Born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands and raised in Ankara, Turkey, Katrina Erickson obtained her bachelors in the Fine Arts at the University of California, Santa Barbara.  Among her many influences, contemporary painter Gerhard Richter and performance artists such as Janine Antoni and Marina Abramovic have inspired artworks exploring rituals in the post-modern context.  Her performances and paintings of performances question an uncanny equilibrium between the reality of doubt and the creation of faith.  She is currently working and living in Hiroshima, Japan.
