Street Arts Center presents “Does Religion Kill?”, a group exhibition
running November 4 to December 22, 2006.
Organized by artist/concept engineer Ronald Lopez, the exhibition
features artists mainly from the Los Angeles area but who come from such
diverse backgrounds as the Philippines, Germany, Honduras, the Netherlands, Iran,
Mexico and Africa. Each
artist will display work that attempts to answer the question or respond
with another question, all in an effort to create dialogue.
The Art Night Reception event will be held Saturday November 4,
2006, 6:00 – 8:30 pm, including open studios and an opening reception
for “20/20”, an art exhibit by curator Michael Sakamoto.
“Does
Religion Kill?” brings together very reputable artists as well as
emerging artists. The
bold works presented by the twelve artists are vast in their mediums,
ranging from painting to video, installation, drawing and an interactive
mural. Though each piece is an end in itself, the work aims to evoke the
viewer to engage and contemplate the question.
